The 69th TUA Graduation Works Exhibition [group]

Tokyo University of the Arts Ueno Campus, Tokyo JP

29 January - 2 February 2021

"Artists of our time are struggling. Outside of exhibitions and galleries, where the public would usually meet artists, they need to endure, try, and repeat, without knowing when the next opportunity would come. Living as such, you must lower your fire so that your flame lasts longer. [...]

From January to June 2020, I interviewed 17 artists of various backgrounds to ask the question: why and how do you continue making art? What is displayed here [in my work "How low can your fire burn" (2020)] is a visualization of my impression on the artists' narratives, in which I focus on the persistence words hold as a material that can be transferred without losing the original resolution. This series will be expanded over and over again in the future by gaining more narratives, similar to how one's vocabulary remains forever open-ended."
